Root Post – rebuilding a damaged tooth

If a tooth’s crown breaks but healthy tooth structure remains above the gum line, the tooth can be reconstructed using a root post, onto which a crown is later placed. This allows the remaining root to become a fully functional, natural tooth again.

Requirements for root post placement:

  • a stable, well-anchored root,
  • properly performed root canal treatment,
  • no lesions around the root tip,
  • sufficient tooth structure above the gum line.

At our clinic, whenever possible, we use fiber-reinforced posts, which are highly aesthetic and have elasticity similar to natural tooth structure, reducing the risk of root fracture that can occur with metal posts.

Goal: preserve the patient’s natural tooth for the long term – precise, aesthetic, and safe.
